My fiance custom designed my engagement ring online because I didn't want a diamond. I wanted a white sapphire and turns out, most girls prefer diamonds. This makes finding a ring difficult.
So when my fiance designed this ring, he decided to go with palladium as the metal after some research. Less expensive, similar to platinum. Well, apparently jewelers don't love working with palladium... something about high melt temps.
I took the ring to Jared's and explained the whole situation. "Palladium band. White sapphire. Green amethyst accents." They assured me it would be fine and took the ring and my money. I got a call the next day to say that they actually can't resize the ring. They don't work with palladium.
I called several other places before getting in touch with D'Antonio & Klein and no one else could work with palladium. The guys at the counter were great, assured me they would have no problem and had the ring resized while we were at brunch.
I also talked to them about wedding bands and they assured me that they would absolutely be able to make me a custom band with white sapphires in it and the estimate they gave seemed reasonable as well.
