I needed an appraisal as my mum died and I need to sell her belongings and I would like to get fair value for some jewelry she had.
I was treated well by the staff and the jeweler was able to appraise the ring while I waited, and he even showed me various details from his viewpoint and explained them thoroughly.
I ended up leaving the ring on consignment. That was scary. However, where I currently live is so poor that they probably couldn't buy it and I'm sure someone going to Jeweler's Row is a bit more affluent.
Hopefully, my trust is justified. They seemed to be dealing with a customer openly, so I have some belief that things will be okay.
I went back to the store after about a year because I had not heard anything. I 98% expected that they would not remember me or have the diamond ring there at all.
I was happily surprised that they found the big diamond so quickly, even though they weren't prepared. They found the mount with the rest of the diamonds quite quickly also. I was relieved. It would have been better if they had sold everything but better to have it than to have used it without permission and claim that they didn't know me or have any record of the ring.
